PODCAST DEL OSO

BAYLOR @ COLORADO - PREVIEW

While Coach Prime argues with meteorologists, Coach Aranda and the Bears bring the best defense Colorado has seen all season. Also, this Baylor offense is better than the ugly early advanced numbers are saying.

7pm CST. Fox. Weather shows potential rain.

“A lot of respect for what they do offesively,” Aranda said (about Colorado). “Quarterback makes some really hard throws. If he (Shedeur Sanders) knows what you are in, he eats you up. The skills (positions) are such that you can’t double cover so many people. You can see the talking, the communication up front where they’re able to hold off. Quarterback is stepping in and taking hits as he’s getting the ball out. That’s a whole NFL thing right there.”

Keys to the Game:

Defense - Trick or Treat!

Vs Nebraska (the only opponent of note for the Buffs), Colorado did not score a point until a field goal in the 3rd quarter. How does that happen?

6 sacks. Watch Nebraska regularly put 5 defenders on the line, but often bring only 4.

Often times, Nebraska has anywhere from 1-3 men win their matchup and apply pressure. Sanders is not particularly mobile in the pocket as it collapses, and the Huskers got home quite often.

If there is one man on this planet who can disguise pressures, it is Dave Aranda. Make Sanders and this very young and… inconsistent offensive line think on every series, make them play slow and tentative, and force Colorado into some mistakes.

Defense - Maintain!

You aren’t going to completely shut down the NFL-caliber talents of Shadeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, (and in my opinion) Jimmy Horn.

In the 28-10 loss to Nebraska, Hunter had 10 catches for 110 yards. 3 Buffaloes had receptions for more than 20 yards. This Colorado team WILL move the ball at times…through the air.

If Baylor can just keep everything in FRONT and maintain, I do not believe this Colorado offense is reliably efficient enough to consistently get tough yards. If Baylor can create some havoc on early downs and force 3rd & long situations, I predict a frustrated Coach Prime on Saturday night.

Offense - Grind!

This Baylor offense has found a solid foundation in the run game. Bryson Washington has brought a more confident look to the Spavital-run game, and I expect we will see him carry the majority of the load on offense. Pendergrass and Richardson, if sharp, should be valuable wearing down this Buffalo’s defense.

Also…why tempt the fates? Don’t throw at Travis Hunter. Don’t put the ball in danger. Nebraska ran for 4.3 yards a clip (5.4ypc in the first half), and that includes a second-half riddled with penalties and an offense that clearly “parked the bus”.

Reduce the time and opportunity that the limited Colorado elite-level talent has on the field, and make them feel every play.

JALEN PITRE, #REALHITTER

Jalen Pitre is turning heads in the NFL…

…and he’s knockin’ heads too.

COACH SCOTT DREW AIN’T SKEERED

Ishmael Johnson and Matt Brune sat down with HCSD recently. They talked VJ Edgecombe, the Big 12, and a ton more. Great stuff.

Additionally, Baylor ain’skeered’a’NOBUDDY. The Bears will travel to play Gonzaga on OPENING NIGHT OF THE SEASON.

Anybody, any place, any time.

BAYLOR BASKETBALL - CROOTIN’

I am “hearing things” about Tounde Yessoufou. I am “hearing things” about Koa Peat. Famliarize yourselves.

MOO DENG - BIG BAYLOR FAN

WBB NON-CON SCHEDULE RELEASED

Baylor WBB is headed to Oregon, the Bahamas, and New Jersey across their non-conference schedule. Some really interesting tests for a team that I expect to be VERY good.
