Podcast: We are Sic Em Bears (Utah & Air Force)
Fank and Pope break down the Baylor Bears' 23-12 loss to the Utah Utes, then look ahead to Saturday's blackout matchup against Air Force in McLane Stadium in Waco on Saturday.
Going into the Utah game, we wondered on PodcastDelOso how Baylor would move the football against a very talented Ute defense, perhaps the stoutest defense on the Baylor Bears’ 2024 schedule. We talked about Baylor keeping pace with Utah and wanting to see them finish strong. I talked about how I wanted to see how Baylor would respond when getting punched in the mouth.
It wasn’t exactly how I expected it to go down, but Baylor absolutely got punched in the mouth early, with Utah jumping out to a 23-0 lead over Baylor, seemingly before Baylor had the opportunity to do anything offensively. Midway into the second quarter, I wondered if Baylor would crumble and we were seeing a return to late-2022/2023 form. Fortunately, the Bears picked themselves up and fought back. It wasn’t pretty, and most of the way it was downright frustrating. But the defense held its own, even before Cam Rising went down with a hand injury. The offense continued to struggle; that’s something the Bears are going to have to figure out and do it quickly.
We’re talking about all of that and more on this week’s podcast.
