Ahhh, Homecoming.

Homecoming at Baylor is something special. After all, Baylor boasts the oldest homecoming tradition in the nation. It’s a sentimental time for many. A time of reunions, a time of nostalgia. For fans of the Baylor football team, this Homecoming potentially represents something else, something we seemingly haven’t felt in a long time. For many, Homecoming 2024 suddenly could mean a time of hope.

For the football team, the first part of the definition above applies - both literally and possibly metaphorically. The Bears return home for the first time in nearly a full month and do so after an absolute beat down of their conference rival Texas Tech. But home hasn’t exactly been a refuge over the past two years. It’s been a full two years since Baylor won its last home conference game. Multiple times over the past two seasons, the Bears have returned home after encouraging stints on the road and failed to defend its home turf in front, much to the confusion and consternation of its home fans.

Homecoming 2024 presents an opportunity for this football team to change that. They can wipe away the frustration of the past 24 months with a win on Saturday against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. They can take back their home field and, at the same time, prove to the faithful that this team is growing, that it is fighting, that the current regime is making good on its promise and potential.

Now they just have to seize it. The Oklahoma State Cowboys stand in their way and they won’t go quietly. We’re talking about it on this week’s preview podcast.
